NATIONAL DRINK WINE DAY

Okay, I know these holidays are silly, but I’ll take any excuse for a beverage. While we’re all about bourbon at OBC, we also pride ourselves on our wine list. We offer pours by the glass in 2, 6 and 9 ounces; so you can try a few or indulge in your favorite. We also offer large format bottles in 1.5, 3 and 5 liters – perfect for celebrating! For instance, maybe celebrating National Wine Day? In honor of the holiday, we’re sharing some of our favorite wines you can find at OBC Kitchen; check ’em out!

SANTA MARGHERITA PINOT GRIGIO
The 70 degree weather we have in Lexington this weekend has us craving a refreshing white. You can’t go wrong with Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio. This clean, dry Pinot Grigio pioneered the wine-making methods of its varietal back in 1960. Straw yellow in color with a clean intense aroma and dry golden apple taste, this go-to is full of authentic, flavorful personality. A versatile drink; it pairs beautifully with cheese, seafood, chicken and pasta dishes.

19 CRIMES RED BLEND
I like to say this is a red that even people who say they don’t like red can dig. Out of Australia, this medium-bodied deep red blend is bold with strong fruit flavors and hints of sweet blackberry. Not too heavy, so you can enjoy a few glasses with dinner and it’s also a great value wine! Pair with beef, chicken and pasta dishes.
OBC recommendation: Steak & Frites

WHITE HAVEN SAUVIGNON BLANC
Some of my favorite Sauvignon Blancs come out of New Zealand. Another spring time wine; sauvignon blancs are tart and refreshing. White Haven is found in Marlborough, which has a cooler climate as far as wine-making is concerned. This gives their Sauvignon Blanc a distinct passion fruit and gooseberry flavor with just a hint of tropical fruit. Pair it with shellfish, white fish, chicken or fresh salads.

SPARKLING WINE COCKTAIL
Wine just not your style? Try a sparkling wine cocktail. Cocktails allow you to expand upon the flavor of wine. Our “Beet”-le Juice cocktail is made with cynar, salted beet syrup and sparkling prosecco. I recommend pairing sparkling with fried food; the bubbles are an excellent texture contrast.
